Design and build a light fixture
To experience light not only as an external observer, but as an integral part of the lamp itself. To experience yourself as a light source.
Built a 7' High x 2' Dia. cylindrical structure made of plywood and muslin, wired with a foot switch to the bottom disc. Access flap at the back where the two edges of fabric overlapped. People were invited to step in, stand in the middle, activate the foot switch and experience the flood of light bouncing off the reflective surfaces on the interior. Observers can see the outline of the person inside through the muslin (much like the filament would appear in a frosted lamp), while at the same time seeing intense light spilling out on all sides, as if the human inside has actually become the filament.
Humans as light.
plywood, muslin, reflective tape, aircraft cable, foot switch, 250w bulb
